Pastor Ryan David Sims is the third senior pastor in Revelation's history, succeeding Elder Arcell Bullock Sr. in 2019. A twenty-five-year career in IT and Human Resources at Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 organizations shaped a leader who reads people the way other pastors read texts. He has served the city since 1998 in social justice, gang intervention, and youth development. He chairs the Pastors and Elders Council of the First Jurisdiction COGIC and serves as Director of Communications for the International Youth Department.
I am the third pastor in this church's history, following sixty years of pastoral leadership on this corner. I do not take that lightly. We are not a perfect church. We are a connecting church. Connecting with you is the first step in connecting you with God. Pastor Ryan David Sims
Lady Tenecia Sims
Lady Tenecia Sims leads worship at Revelation. A graduate of Loyola Marymount with a degree in voice, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Grammys, and on American Idol alongside Yolanda Adams, the Clark Sisters, and Bebe Winans. She has served in praise and worship ministry for nearly twenty-five years and as Assistant Chairlady of the Southwest Region International Youth Department of COGIC since 2017.
From a rented room to a building bought with dimes.
Revelation Church of God in Christ was organized in 1958 by Elder Edward Davis, who had moved his family from Arkansas to Los Angeles to plant a Spirit-led congregation in South L.A. The first services were held in a rented building at 5211 Avalon. In 1965, the congregation purchased the building at 5250 Avalon for four thousand dollars, raised by members who gave dimes. Sixty-eight years later, the dimes are still working.
